We have worked tirelessly to benefit all of the children in the Fallsburg Central School district. We are continuing that mission with the addition of accessible playground equipment in the Town of Fallsburg parks. According to Little Tykes.Com accessible playground equipment offers benefits for all children!

Children who have mobility or other challenges, have the right to play! We believe a handicap-accessible playground allows them to do just that. Something as simple as accessible surfacing can make playground equipment navigable for wheelchairs and the people who use them. For children with challenges, accessible play areas and wheelchair-accessible playground equipment let them play and be children, just like everyone else. Play is crucial for human development, the growth of social skills and self-confidence. For other children who don’t have these challenges, playground equipment for disabled children can also offer big benefits. Currently there is NO ADA compliant playground equipment in our town. Our total population as of 2017 according to is 15.3%.
Connecting with children of different backgrounds and abilities encourages empathy, as well as social and emotional skills that will benefit children throughout their entire lives. Children who can cooperate and play with children of all ability levels and all backgrounds will be more prepared for a diverse world and workplace as adults.

Fallsburg Community Health Data

Currently our county is ranked 61 out of 62 counties for healthy habits. Nandy (2018) stated, Sullivan County may be almost dead last in an annual report detailing health rankings county-by-county across New York State. Sullivan is again ranked 61st of 62 counties. Our foundation would like to help address this issue with purchasing adaptive playground equipment. We seek to help all of our children in the county with outdoor active play.
