Kiwanis Club of Paris
St. Mary School is located on Main Street in the heart of downtown Paris, Kentucky. The school was founded in 1888 and its mission is to education the next generation of leaders while fostering academic excellence and service to the community. St. Mary School serves students from Montessori preschool through fifth grade (ages 3 to 11). While the school has always had a playground space, students have never had access to a playground system. For over 130 years, children have played on gravel, blacktop, or grass while only having access to basketball goals, jump ropes, bubbles, chalk, and balls. Children have never had access to slides, swings, and traditional playground equipment. Just to have access to traditional exercising resources, St. Mary School students walk three blocks to the YMCA for gym class, which was not open to them during COVID. Likewise, downtown Paris, Kentucky does not have any playground spaces for children in the community. This playground would meet a profound need in our community and will allow children to have a safe space to play and develop gross motor skills.
