Hidden Valley Kiwanis

Dixon Lake and the neighboring Daily Ranch provide 6000 acres of open space with camping, fishing, cycling, exercising, and picnicking. With over 350,000 visitors (documented statistics), we estimate 25% are children (87,500). Assuming two thirds are under the age of 12 (57,750 children), with a current estimate of over 2 million hours of use over the course of a year. One of the two 1200 sqft children’s playgrounds was removed in 2016. As a result the Dixon Lake staff has had to forgo some of its youth day events. This has serious impacted the Family environment the staff at Dixon Lake has strives to maintained. As funding was a challenge for the City to attain in this area, Hidden Valley Kiwanis stepped up to fulfill the gap. HVK has completed Phase 1 (cost of approximately $80,000) in March 2020, by providing a 1200 square foot playground in support of the general public. Currently there is a ADA cabin installed in the campground, and an ADA water craft, but no ADA playground for children and serious limitations for the age group 2-5. HVK has proposed a Phase II which adds an additional 800 sqft specifically dedicated to ADA and children 2-5 (picture attached). Hidden Valley will continue to support Dixon Lake and associated Daily Ranch in the same capacity it has for the last 22+ years.
